How to go beyond the ego
Hola Exquisite One,
If you have kids, do you ever detach yourself from being ‘mum’ and choose to observe your kiddos as these magical creatures? (Please do not confuse this phenomenon by sometimes knowing/ thinking/ feeling/ saying that they can also be assholes)
Can you call your kid an asshole? Guess I just did!
But, have you ever done this?
Yesterday, was el día de los muertos (day of the dead) and like every year we created an altar for them with some offerings like water, beans and chocolate - because the journey between the other world and this one can be long and they might want a drink. A candle, some money, stones and their photos.
I shared it with both my daughters - individually this time - and they both shook me to my core.
Sometimes you have no idea what the hell you're doing with business and life and it can take a seemingly unrelated event to gently nudge you back to centre.
That was it for me.
Creating sacred space for tears, laughter, ancestral stories, dreams and desires comes with the title of the wise woman/ healer/ bruja/ shaman. A role I've been invited to consider for a long time but that I have been incredibly reluctant to accept.
Because if I embrace that identity - does that mean I must let go of my other one, as a fashion designer?!
Not exactly, but the ego is a tough nut to crack.
And the only thing that gets through its tough exterior?
Ritual + Ceremony
It's in the liminal space that you get to access what's really going on inside you.
Not what you're supposed to want to want.
Not what you're meant or expected to want.
But what actually and truly brings you joy.
You can't hide in this space.
And that's when you get to see your own magic.
Let's go deeper into yours.
